2011 Bike Lexington Criterium – May 30th
Main Street Velo will host the Bike Lexington Criterium again this year. It will be held on the same course as in previous years. The Bike Lexington Criterium provides a finale to a weekend of events including the Horsey Hundred and a police escorted family ride. Come out and ride in the morning and stay to watch men and women battle it out on a fast 6 corner Criterium course. This race has the most spectators of any road race of the season!

Kentucky State Championship Time Trials – June 20th

Main Street Velo, Main Street Bikes and Head First Performance are very proud to be hosting this years State Championship Time Trials. The course begins near Shelby County High School and is the same as our Shelby County TT series.

Registration is open on Truesport.
Online registration closes June 16th at 11:59pm.
A $10 fee will apply for day-of registration.

Main Street Velo will host the Bike Lexington Criterium this year. It will be held on a course surrounding Lexington’s new court house. The Bike Lexington Criterium provides a finale to a weekend of events including the Horsey Hundred and a police escorted family ride.

Shelby County Road Race – May 23

The 2010 Shelby County Road Race will run through 10 miles of Waddy’s scenic rural roads. The course has numerous rollers, one significant climb, and a fast finish. This is our second year as host. Last year we enjoyed over 250 participants, great weather, promptly posted results, and free food. We are looking forward to another excellent race on May 23rd.

There Will Be Mud: Shelby County CX

Saturday May 8th is the CX fun race in conjunction with Shelby County Park’s Earth Day celebration. The event will be held at Red Orchard Park. Lots of stuff for the family going on that day as well as a chance to learn about cyclocross. Racing begins at noon and we will have a CX primer at 11am.

Advanced registration is appreciated but you can also register at the event with no late fee.

11am – Cyclocross primer. This is for new CX racers or those looking for a refresher. We will have a separate kids primer akin to a bike rodeo.
12pm – Juniors 10-12 and 13-14 for 20 minutes.
12:30pm – Juniors 15-16 and 17-18 for 30 minutes.
1:15pm – Mountain bike and citizens race for 30 minutes.
2pm – Womens open for 30 minutes.
2:45pm – Mens Cat 3/4 (any experienced CX racer) for 40 minutes.

MSV already has two Time Trials under their belts in 2010. With several more Time Trials to go and the State Championship MSV is showing they have the legs to compete.

Main Street Velo’s Matt Fegenbush, Rob Grissom and Gene Zaparanick-Brown competed in the second of the Main Street Bikes TT series. Tom Waggener and Todd heady were running the race like a well oiled machine along with Todd’s excellent staff at HeadFirstPerformance.com.

Matt Fegenbush finished 5th in the 20K and shaved exactly a minute off his time!

Rob Grissom finished 8th, using non-aero equipment, and shaved a minute and 20 seconds off of his time!

Gene Zaparanick-Brown takes 6th place in the 40K TT course for his first TT of the season and put in a very respectable 1:13:10, using non-aero equipment.

The weather couldn’t have been better for a TT in April. It was warm and not to windy for a change.

At the first TT in the series Main Street Velo’s Tom Waggener, David Shelton, Matt Fegenbush, David Lane, James Smith, Jason Monk, Robert Grissom and David Sac turned out for one very windy March TT. The head winds on the back of the course measured 24.5 MPH at times.

It was a 1, 2  finish for Main Street Velo in the 20K course.

Tom Waggener turned in a blistering 00:31:50:00 for first place

David Shelton turned in a 00:33:12:30 for second place

MSV also had 5 top Ten finishers!

The second race in the Shelby County Time Trial series happens this Sunday April 11th. You have a choice between a 20K or 40K distance. This is a timed event. Preregistration is available at Active.com. Registration is available day of the race beginning at 9:30 AM. Staging is at
